S: After Jesus’ birth a group of spiritual priests from the East came to Jerusalem and inquired of the people, “Where is the child who is born king of the Jewish people? We observed his star rising in the sky and we’ve come to bow before him in worship.” Matthew 2:1b-2 (TPT)
When they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, they were overcome. Falling to the ground at his feet they worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure boxes full of gifts and presented him with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 (TPT)
O: The wise men were looking for a king; they prepared themselves for the journey and sought to find the “King of the Jewish people.” When they found him, in his home (not a palace), with his mom (not a group of advisors/hired hands/nannies), they fell at his feet and worshiped him. This small child, with no other distinction than a star, caused these grown men to bow low and give their gifts of wealth; gifts they gave freely which God would use to fulfil His purpose.
A: Am I seeking You – for Who You are? Am I worshiping You – for Who You are? Am I freely giving all I am – all I have – for Who You are?
Do I know You, God? Like really, really know You?
I want to. I want to know You in this way. I want to walk into a room and see You in it. I want to be overcome by Your majesty. And I want to give all that I have to You – for You to use as You see fit.
P: I love You, Lord. Help me to remember Who You are – not just in these quiet moments, but in ALL the moments. Help me to LOOK for You! And when I find You – overwhelm me with fresh revelation of Who You are – again and again and again.
